What is the difference between Recruitment, Selection and Placement?
- Recruitment refers to the overall process of attracting, shortlisting, selecting and appointing suitable candidates for jobs (either permanent or temporary) within an organization.
- Selection means is to select the most suitable candidate through various interviews and tests. Selection results in a contract of service between the employer and the selected employee.
- Placement is a process of assigning a specific job to each of the selected candidates.
Sources of Recruitment:
The eligible and suitable candidates required for a particular job are available through various sources. These sources can be divided into two categories, as shown in Figure 5.5.
